Kryon's advice on producing unlimited electricity
From Kryon Book 1 Chapter 4
"...you must get rid of your artificially produced, volatile small particle fuels. These are absolutely the most dangerous substances on Earth. Use your science and start a discovery program to neutralize these deadly materials. If you start now, by 1999 you will receive a scientific window of opportunity that will reward you with results. Abandon the use of these materials for any purpose whatsoever. As a race of intelligent beings, why would you ever have developed and manufactured a poison that you could not control, and barely contain, in such mass quantity? Begin using your enlightened minds to understand the two important inexhaustible areas where power for your cities should be drawn from: (1) There is unlimited heat directly below the feet of every human on Earth. And you already understand that heat equals power. It should never be necessary to consume anything for heat. Learn how to obtain and harness it! (2) Understand the incredible consistent energy of the tidal actions on your coasts. (After all, isn't that where many of your major cities are?) The universe has provided you with tons and tons of push-pull action-just waiting for you to use it! You already understand the benefits of hydro-electric power. It's yours; it's free, clean, and it's forever."

B17 Cures Cancer
Check it out!
from https://draxe.com/vitamin-b17/
Best Sources of Vitamin B17
Apricot kernels and bitter almonds are most commonly used to create an extract form of vitamin B17. But
almost all seeds and kernels from various types of fruits contain vitamin B17, such as apple seeds and pear seeds. Beans and certain whole grains also contain vitamin B17.
The exact amount of vitamin B17 within foods is not well-known, and levels are thought to vary widely within a food depending on where it’s grown, the quality of the soil and how fresh it is.
According to the Vitamin B17 Organization, these are some of the highest sources of absorbable vitamin B17: (5)
- Apricots (kernels/seeds)
- Seeds from other fruits like apples, cherries, peaches, prunes, plums, pears
- Lima beans
- Fava Beans
- Wheatgrass
- Almonds
- Raspberries
- Elderberries
- Strawberries
- Blackberries

Wood Lice heal the soil of heavy metals
http://www.naturalnews.com/049190_rollie_pollies_heavy_metals_soil_remediation.html
(NaturalNews) Turn over a brick or a board that has been lying in the yard for a while and underneath you may find a collection of pill bugs scurrying about. Also known as "rollie pollies" or woodlice, these grey-colored creatures can be found in many dark, moist environments feeding on decaying matter. What's interesting about these critters is that they are not bugs at all. They are crustaceans and more closely resemble crabs and shrimp, not insects. They are characterized by their ability to roll up into a ball when they feel threatened. Another unique feature is that they have seven pairs of legs. They also act like kangaroos, toting their eggs around with them in a special pouch called a marsupium, located on the pillbug's underside. Even stranger, they don't urinate. Instead, they exchange gases through gill-like structures.
Pillbugs play an important role in the cycle of healthy plant life. They return organic matter to the soil so it can be digested further by fungi, protozoans and bacteria. This process produces a natural supply of nitrates, phosphates and other vital nutrients that plants need to thrive now and in future growing seasons. It is important not to introduce pill bugs into the garden too early, as they tend to munch on emerging plants. The grey soil workers often live up to three years.
The magic of the pill bugs helps reestablish healthy soil and prevents toxic metal ions from leaching into the groundwater. This means pill bugs are also protecting well water from becoming contaminated while stabilizing soils.

Pill bugs great for gardening, composting
Breeding or collecting pill bugs may be an important practice for homesteading and gardening. The guts of these pill bugs contain a number of microbes that help the critter feed on dead, organic matter. By releasing mass quantities of pill bugs into a mature garden, one can be assured that dead plant matter is being properly broken down and returned to healthy soil. Pill bugs literally speed up the process of decomposition. They circulate the soil. This can be very useful in composting. Treats for pill bugs include fungus and monocotyledonous leaves.Pillbugs play an important role in the cycle of healthy plant life. Pill bugs clean up soil and protect ground water from heavy metal contamination
One very unique quality that these crustaceans possess is their ability to safely remove heavy metals from soil. For this reason, they are an important tool for cleaning up soil contaminated with pollutants like lead, cadmium and arsenic. In coal spoils and slag heaps, pill bugs come in handy. They take in heavy metals like lead and cadmium and crystallize these ions in their guts. The heavy metal toxins are then made into spherical deposits in the mid gut. With this special cleanup property, pill bugs survive where most creatures can't, in the most contaminated sites. The magic of the pill bugs helps reestablish healthy soil and prevents toxic metal ions from leaching into the groundwater. This means pill bugs are also protecting well water from becoming contaminated while stabilizing soils.

- Hair conditioner/ Deep Treatment – use as a leave-in hair conditioner by applying a teaspoon of coconut oil to your ends and then running your fingers through your hair to distribute the rest. For a deeper treatment, rub in a tablespoon of coconut oil onto your dry scalp and gently work through to the ends. Put a shower cap on to prevent transfer onto bed linens and leave on overnight.

How Portugal Brilliantly Ended its War on Drugs
February 24th 2015
Rather than respond as many governments have, with zero-tolerance legislation and an emphasis on law enforcement, the commission suggested the decriminalization of all drugs, coupled with a focus on prevention, education, and harm-reduction. The objective of the new policy was to reintegrate the addict back into the community, rather than isolate them in prisons, the common approach by many governments. Two years later, Portugal’s government passed the commission’s recommendations into law.
Just as important as the specific policies recommended by the commission is an entirely different philosophy. Rather than treating addiction as a crime, it’s treated as a medical condition. JoĂŁo GoulĂŁo, Portugal’s top drug official, emphasizes that the goal of the new policy is to fight the disease, not the patients.
Decriminalization doesn’t mean legalization.
Legalization removes all criminal penalties for producing, selling, and possessing drugs whereas decriminalization eliminates jail time for drug users, but dealers are still criminally prosecuted. Roughly 25 countries have removed criminal penalties for the possession of small amounts of certain or all drugs. No country has attempted full legalization.
When Portuguese authorities find someone in possession of drugs, the drug user will eventually go before a three-member, administrative panel that includes a lawyer, a doctor, and a psychologist. In dealing with the drug user, the panel has only three choices: prescribe treatment, fine the user, or do nothing.
Portugal also invested heavily in widespread prevention and education efforts, as well as building rehabilitation programs, needle exchanges, and hospitals.
How did it work?
Levels of drug consumption in Portugal are now among the lowest in the European Union. No surprise, the decriminalization of low-level drug possession has also resulted in a dramatic decline in drug arrests, from more than 14,000 per year to roughly 6,000 once the new policies were implemented. The percentage of drug-related offenders in Portuguese prisons decreased as well -- from 44 percent in 1999 to under 21 percent in 2012.
HIV infection is an area where the results are clear. Before the law, more than half of Portugal's HIV-infected residents were drug addicts. Each year brought 3,000 new diagnoses of HIV among addicts. Today, addicts consist of only 20 percent of HIV-infected patients.
Portugal’s drug control officials and independent studies caution against crediting Portugal's’s decriminalization as much as its prevention and rehabilitation efforts.
Prospects for ending the U.S. Drug War.
Drug policy in the United States could not be more different. In the U.S., law enforcement still takes center stage, and the war on drugs is defended by vested interests -- from police unions to private prison companies -- that command billions in resources. While the top drug control official in Portugal is a doctor, the U.S. has a drug czar who specializes in law enforcement.
But advocates hoping to change the system have something they don’t: scientific evidence and popular support.
In early 2014, the U.K.'s government conducted an eight-month study comparing drug laws and rates of drug use in 11 countries, including Portugal. Published in October, the report concludes that “[w]e did not in our fact-finding observe any obvious relationship between the toughness of a country’s enforcement against drug possession, and levels of drug use in that country.” It was the U.K.’s first official recognition that its war on drugs has been a complete failure since Parliament passed the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act.
Another sign of hope is the near universal view among Americans that the drug war is not working. A Pew poll from April 2014 revealed that two out of three Americans think people shouldn’t be prosecuted for drug possession. Sixty-three percent support eliminating mandatory minimum sentencing, and 54 percent support full marijuana legalization. States have made more progress changing drug laws than the federal government, particularly when the decision is left to voters, who have passed recreational marijuana legalization or medical marijuana legalization by referenda in several states.
Voters in Colorado and Washington have shown that the best place to make your voice heard is at the ballot box. If you're tired of the war on drugs, go to OurTime.org to register to vote.

How to Create Peace
In nature, peace comes with abundance. The way to create peace is by creating abundance, by sharing, and by putting women in charge.
To prove this, let's look at some species of ape that is closest to Humans - the Chimpanzee and the Bonobo.
Both chimpanzees and bonobos live in Africa. Chimpanzees live north of the Congo River, and Bonobos live south of the Congo River. They're practically the same species, living across a river from each other. But they live very different lives.
The land south of the Congo River is a lush, abundant rainforest, with plenty of food for the Bonobos. On the other hand, while the land immediataly north of the Congo River is still rainforest, the farther north you go, the closer you are to the Sahara Desert. This has caused the chimpanzees and bonobos to evolve very differently.
"Richard Wrangham, thinks this may be because chimpanzees evolved in a situation of food scarcity while bonobos developed in the giant salad bowl of the Congo basin where there was abundance." (from www.nytimes.com/2010/07/06/science/06conv.html?_r=0)
According to Knowledgenuts.com (http://knowledgenuts.com/2013/08/18/the-difference-between-chimps-and-bonobos/), "Overall, bonobos have a “make love, not war” mentality, which is in stark contrast to the often aggressive and violent manner of chimps."
Basically, chimps have evolved to become patriarchal, domination and competition oriented. They have become very good at competing with each other for the scarce food, making sure that the strongest individuals get fed properly, survive and pass on their stronger genes.
On the other hand, Bonobos have evolved to become matriarchal, cooperation and relationship oriented. They have evolved to create very strong social bonds reinforced by play mating - recreational non-reproductive sex. They share everything, and they discipline bad behavior through "excommunication" - leaving someone out. Yes, the way the Catholic Church punishes bad behavior... well, not exactly. They leave the bad guy out of their group sex.
They evolved this way because getting enough food is not the key for their survival - there's enough food for everybody. Instead, their relationships ensure harmony and cooperation in the community. You see, Chimpanzee males gang up to bully everybody else, so they get the lion's share of food. Bonobo females gang up to protect themselves from male bullying, and to make sure that nobody tries to keep all the food for themselves.
According to Chimpanzee Information (http://chimpanzeeinformation.blogspot.com/2011/03/bonobos-dont-kill-each-other-like.html):
"Chimpanzees can be very empathetic, loving but they also have this darker side. They have war, they kill each other, they beat their females. Bonobos don't really have any of that..."
Bonobos' generous nature likely evolved because they live in an area of the Congo where food is plentiful. They never had to compete with gorillas or kill for a meal like common chimps do.
The females stick together, creating a matriarchal society, and when necessary will gang up on threatening males. "Females will work together to protect themselves from male aggression. So male aggression is just simply not tolerated," says Hare.

Basic income could help eradicate poverty
from http://fusion.net/story/288907/why-free-money-beats-bullshit-jobs/
The universal basic income is an idea whose time has come. And, slowly but surely, it is converting members of the tech elite.
It’s a radical idea: Everyone should get an unconditional, monthly allowance, whether you’re rich or poor, old or young, overworked or out of work. An allowance that should be enough to live on, and how you spend it, is up to you. The only condition, as such, is that you have a pulse.
The influential startup fund Y Combinator is already rolling out a study on basic income. Netscape founder Marc Andreessen calls it “a very interesting idea.” And Business for Basic Income offers a brand-new web platform where business owners worldwide can express their support for the idea.
So what’s going on? It’s simple, really: The robots are coming, and
people in Silicon Valley have realized that it’s only a matter of time
before they swallow up most jobs. That it is high time, in other words,
to start distributing cash. For free.
As a staunch basic income advocate for several years now, I couldn’t be happier to see that a multitude of millionaires are suddenly rallying around this idea. And yet, I’m also suspicious: Libertarian ultra-capitalists throwing their chips in with Marxist academicians? Sounds fishy.
More to the point, however, is that the “rise of the robots” is actually the worst possible justification for basic income. It’s an argument that hinges on a future which is altogether uncertain. Sure, there are plenty of trend watchers who earn fat paychecks forecasting the imminent demise of 90% of all jobs. But if history has anything to teach us, it’s that trend watchers can’t be trusted.
In the mid-1960s, a Senate committee report stated that by 2000 the workweek would be down to just 14 hours, with at least seven weeks off a year. The RAND Corporation, an influential think tank, foresaw a future in which just 2% of the population would be able to produce everything society needed. Obviously, things turned out differently. We wanted mass unemployment; instead we got extreme inequality. Apparently, there will always be some billionaire who’s unwilling to give up his personal fan-waver.
But there is good news, too. We don’t have to wait around for automated butlers and self-driving trucks. Forget about robots. The reasons why we need basic income are infinitely better.
And we’re not talking about just a handful of people here. In a survey of 12,000 professionals by the Harvard Business Review, half said they felt their job had no “meaning and significance,” and an equal number were unable to relate to their company’s mission. Another recent poll among Brits revealed that as many as 37% think they have a bullshit job.
What is more, the very reason we don’t have personal robo-butlers and
flying cars yet may be precisely because we don’t have a basic income.
How many brilliant would-be entrepreneurs, inventors, and musicians are
at this very moment flipping hamburgers or driving for Uber? And imagine
just how much progress we’ve missed out on because thousands of bright
minds have frittered away their time dreaming up hypercomplex financial
products that are ultimately only destructive.
“We wanted flying cars, instead we got 140 characters,” mocks Peter Thiel, Silicon Valley’s resident intellectual. But he doesn’t say why. A study conducted at Harvard found that Reagan-era tax cuts sparked a mass career switch among the country’s finest minds, from teachers and engineers to bankers and accountants. Whereas in 1970 twice as many male Harvard grads were still opting for a life devoted to research over banking, 20 years later the balance had flipped, with one and a half times as many alumni employed in finance.
Nowhere are there as many bullshit jobs, however, as in Silicon Valley. A survey of 5,000 software developers and engineers last year found that, in the words of The Economist, “many of them feel alienated, trapped, underappreciated and otherwise discombobulated.” Only 19% of tech employees say they are satisfied with their jobs. A mere 17% feel valued. Or, as a former math whiz working at Facebook lamented a few years ago: “The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads.”
The upshot is that we’ve all gotten poorer. Higher taxes for top earners would serve, in Harvard science-speak, “to reallocate talented individuals from professions that cause negative externalities to those that cause positive externalities.” In plain English: Higher taxes would get more people to do work that’s useful. A basic income would give them the real freedom to make something of their lives.
The welfare state, which should foster people’s sense of security and pride, has degenerated into a system of suspicion and shame. It is a grotesque pact between right and left. “The political right is afraid people will stop working, and the left doesn’t trust them to make their own choices,” says University of Manitoba economist and basic income expert Evelyn Forget. A basic income system (combined with free education and universal healthcare) would be a better compromise. In terms of redistribution, it would meet the left’s demands for fairness; where the regime of interference and humiliation are concerned, it would give the right a more limited government than ever.
But that feels like a long time ago. These days, the idea of a basic income for all Americans is as unthinkable as women’s suffrage and equal rights for racial minorities was in the past. It’s difficult to imagine that we’ll ever be able to shake off the dogma that if you want money, you have to work for it.
And yet, the inability to imagine a world in which things are different is only evidence of a poor imagination, not of the impossibility of change. Basic income remains a tremendous idea. We don’t have to wait for robots or for Silicon Valley. If there’s one economic reform that everyone who has been getting the short end of the economic stick these past 40 years – that is, practically everyone – should be championing, it’s universal basic income.

Basic income: it’s not about robots
For starters, take the financing of basic income. Would Apple and Google finally be willing to cough up their fair share of tax dollars? Don’t bet on it. Hedge fund manager Chris Hawkins proposes we just ditch the old welfare state, Medicare, Medicaid and all. That’s a far cry from the scenario put forward by left-libertarian philosopher Philippe van Parijs, who for three decades now has been arguing for a basic income to supplement social welfare programs.More to the point, however, is that the “rise of the robots” is actually the worst possible justification for basic income. It’s an argument that hinges on a future which is altogether uncertain. Sure, there are plenty of trend watchers who earn fat paychecks forecasting the imminent demise of 90% of all jobs. But there is good news, too. We don’t have to wait around for automated butlers and self-driving trucks. Forget about robots. The reasons why we need basic income are infinitely better.
It’s about freedom and meaning
To begin with, basic income would give us all genuine freedom. Nowadays, numerous people are forced to spend their entire working lives doing jobs they consider to be pointless. Jobs like telemarketer, HR manager, social media strategist, PR advisor, and a whole host of administrative positions at hospitals, universities, and government offices. “Bullshit jobs,” the anthropologist David Graeber calls them. They’re the jobs that even the people doing them admit are, in essence, superfluous.

A basic income would give them the real freedom to make something of their lives.
Basic income could help eradicate poverty
The second argument for free cash is that it would wipe out poverty once and for all. As an investment, its potential is nothing short of spectacular. A 2013 study estimated the costs of child poverty in the U.S. at as much as $500 billion a year. Eradicating poverty, by contrast, would cost only $175 billion, according to economist Matt Bruenig’s calculations. That’s roughly a quarter of the U.S. military budget. As a matter of fact, all the world’s developed countries had it within their means to eliminate poverty years ago.Could basic income kill the welfare state?
The third reason we need a basic income is that it would pull the plug on a welfare system that has devolved into a perverse behemoth of control and humiliation. Officials keep tabs on public assistance recipients via Facebook to check whether they’re spending their money wisely – and woe be to anyone who dares to do unapproved volunteer work. An army of social services workers is needed to guide people through the jungle of eligibility, application, approval, and recapture procedures. And then the corps of inspectors has to be mobilized to sift through the paperwork.
Why basic income could work
In the early 1970s, four large basic income experiments were conducted in the U.S. All were an unmitigated success. Participants did not suddenly all sit around twiddling their thumbs – far from it. Free cash brought one bullshit job after another crashing down. As the concluding report of one of the experiments, in Seattle, noted, “[The] declines in hours of paid work were undoubtedly compensated in part by other useful activities, such as search for better jobs or work in the home.” For example, one mother who had dropped out of high school worked less in order to earn a degree in psychology and get a job as a researcher. Another woman took acting classes, and her husband began composing music. “We’re now self-sufficient, income-earning artists,” she told the researchers. Among youth included in the experiment, almost all the hours not spent on paid work went into more education. Such as in New Jersey, where the high school graduation rate rose 30% among study subjects. But that feels like a long time ago. These days, the idea of a basic income for all Americans is as unthinkable as women’s suffrage and equal rights for racial minorities was in the past. It’s difficult to imagine that we’ll ever be able to shake off the dogma that if you want money, you have to work for it.

Chronicles From The Future: The amazing story of Paul Amadeus Dienach
This book is about a person from 1920's who fell into a coma and awoke in the future, around what to us would be the year 3900.
In this book, I have found a solution to our current economic problems. Their economic system has "Industry" institutionalized, like part of the government, and everybody is required to render service to society from the age of 17 to 19 in this industrial institution, making and building and doing everything they need to sustain their material abundance. After that, they are free to do whatever they want to do in their lives - like go to college, travel the world, have babies, etc., indeed to do nothing if they so wished.
Very very promising idea.... =D

Autism reversed using Chelation
Autism reversed using Chelation Therapy with TD-DMSA to get the mercury out
from https://www.facebook.com/scottshoemaker/videos/10207901697173971/
Child who is previously able to speak develops autism after vaccination, ceases eye contact and stops talking. After chelation, he regains ability to speak and is able to form whole sentences.
This video is a must watch for any adult who knows an autistic child
Scott Shoemaker says
This is perhaps the most AMAZING thing I have ever witnessed or been a part of. I have never posted this publicly but I have shared this at conferences and support groups I have spoken at. I decided to share this for the people that do not understand autism, and for the parents of these kids and others that do not understand recovery from it.
In my opinion, this is the best proof to date showing that a child diagnosed with autism can recover and lose their diagnosis in a very short time without behavioral interventions**. I get choked up every time I watch it.
My son turned 14 last week. He has come a long way from the child in this video. He never knew he had a problem when he was younger until I recently told him. He does not remember any of it.
Since April is autism awareness month and my son now understands what happened to him when he was younger, I decided to post this video. There has been a lot of publicity lately about the movie #Vaxxed (that the government and CDC don't want you to see). It is a true story about a senior vaccine safety scientist working at the CDC who recently came forward admitting that his research group destroyed evidence connecting vaccines and autism. It is about corruption in the CDC and is not an "anti-vaccination" film that the CDC would like you to believe. Everyone should see it.
I, like many other parents that have (had) a child with a diagnosis, believe vaccines played at least a part in my son's problems, and I am all about raising awareness on this issue. There definitely needs to be more discussion about this in light of recent events.
If the autism rate keeps climbing like it has, it is estimated that by 2032, half of all children born will be diagnosed (80% of all boys). I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would look the other way.
Children with autism can recover and lose their diagnosis (and this video is proof of that), by taking the things out of them that vaccines and our environment put in.
When nothing is certain, anything is possible.
Happy Birthday, Josh! You are an incredible young man! I love you, buddy, and I am so proud of you! You ROCK!
**Note: For the record, I am not against behavioral interventions, and I believe that most children with a diagnosis would benefit from them. Joshua recovered so rapidly, I did not feel that he needed them.

How to Embrace Rising Sea Levels
INHABITAT INTERVIEW: Water Architect Koen Olthuis on How to Embrace Rising Sea Levels
from http://inhabitat.com/inhabitat-interview-water-architect-koen-olthuis-on-how-to-embrace-rising-sea-levels/
I add this article to this blog not because I see it as having solutions that can be applied now, but because it contains much of the reasoning required to develop these solutions.
It introduces the concepts of floating infrastructure that can be towed to disaster affected areas, like power plants and schools.
Right now, building floating infrastructure is doable but expensive. There are also the problems of how such a structure would react to storms, etc.
In the future, man will be develop cost effective solutions to these problems that would in hindsight be "common sense".

In 1799 Samuel Hahnemann, a medical doctor, chemist, and linguist, discovered that the homeopathic medicine called belladonna was effective as a preventative for scarlet fever. Cristoph Hufeland (1762-1836), described as the greatest German clinician of the late 18th century (Habrich 1991) and who founded a respected and still extant medical journal in Göttingen, reported that:
I. The proper use of belladonna has, in most cases, prevented infection, even in those instances where, by the continual intercourse with patients labouring under scarlet fever, the predisposition towards it was greatly increased. There are a lot of books and articles out there about homeoprophylaxis, we don't need vaccines.
II. Numerous observations have shown that, by the general use of belladonna, epidemics of scarlet fever have actually been arrested.
III. In those few instances where the use of belladonna was insufficient to prevent infection, the disease has been invariably slight.
IV. There are exceptions to the above three points, but their number is extremely small. (The Lancet 1829)

Earthbag Homes: Cheap and Easy to Build
Earthbag Homes: The Ultimate Bullet-Proof Retreat… Cheap and Easy to Build!
from http://offgridquest.com/homes-dwellings/building-methods/earthbag-homes-the-ultimate-bullet-proof
Environmentalist’s best kept secret and the concrete industry’s worst nightmare…
… the earthbag method means that you can build a small retreat to withstand bullets, floods, hurricanes, storms and fires much better than a conventional house.
And all at a fraction of the cost!
Earthbag construction is a hot topic in underground circles but has yet to hit the mainstream.
First used by the military to make bunkers and temporary army buildings, the earthbag building system became a family necessity in some war zones. There are also a few video guides on how to turn your home into an impregnable fortress.
And I’m pretty sure that this method will become pretty popular among survivalists and cautious people in general. And here is why:
INDESTRUCTIBLE
Earthbag buildings are tough and have some serious credentials to prove it:In Nepal’s recent earthquakes, the entire village of Sangachok was flattened, with the exception of one building. This school building is now being used as a shelter for the majority of the community who’ve lost their homes to the quake. And guess what this building is made of? That’s right, earthbags.
The polypropylene bags filled with soil, laid like bricks and tamped down into place proved too tough for the 7.8 earthquake to defeat.
With its plaster, attached to the bags by chicken wire mesh, it looks just like a regular concrete building. It’s just much tougher.
Emergency shelters are now being put up in Nepal using this method, based on the success in rebuilding in Haiti after their earthquake in 2010.
It was the military that first used earth and sandbag construction and have been doing so for at least a century. Used to make bunkers and temporary army buildings, the ability of earthbags to take bullets in and not let them out makes them indispensible for those inwar zones or preparing for dangerous situations.
We don’t have to look too far to get proof of earthbag’s waterproof properties. Bags filled with earth or sand are used for flood control worldwide with great success. Though the burlap bags commonly used degrade when exposed to water for a long time, polypropylene is totally water resistant, so is the ideal choice for waterproofing.
In earthbag construction, the walls are constructed on top of simple rubble trenches with french drains to keep rainwater water away from the bags. The first few courses of bags are filled with gravel for best results.
DIRT CHEAP…
…literally! You’ll still need to buy windows, doors, fixtures, fittings and roof materials, but the cost for the bulk of the construction is dramatically slashed.
Polypropylene bags go as cheap at 10 cents each or even less when you buy in bulk and search around for a good deal. Fill them with soil from your own land and there’s only barbed wire to buy to complete your wall. This is laid between the courses in two strips to create friction between them.
The only cement you’ll need is enough to pour a concrete bond beam. A few rods of rebar rammed vertically through the bags and cemented into the bond beam are recommended for strength.
Finishing plasters for the outside and the inside will vary depending on which options best suit your needs. Concrete, lime, clay or earth based plasters will attract different price tags. Don’t be tempted to skip the plastering step – polypropylene bags degrade under prolonged UV exposure. Chicken wire or fishing net draped over the bags before the plaster is applied creates superior strength in the wall.
Tamped earth or soil-cement floors, sealed and varnished, offer a great low-cost alternative to concrete slab and help with temperature control and insulation.
You’ll also save a bundle on transport costs, as most of the material (soil) is already on site.
